Best Adapted Screenplayfor Leaving Las Vegas Like Nicholas Cage says, it's about time Hollywood realizes (once again) that films don't necessarily have to have happy endings. Could you imagine the possible rewrites that might have taken place in this one? (Something like: Last shot is a Long Shot of him walking up to the door of the Betty Ford clinic singing, "Brand New Day.")
